Judith Herb Scholarship
The University of Toledo Herb Scholars Program is the most prestigious scholarship awarded by the Judith Herb College of Education. The scholarship honors Judith Herb and her family who, along with The University of Toledo, recognize, encourage and support teachers of the future as they make their way into classrooms that will educate and mentor the leaders of tomorrow.
The Herb Scholars Program is valued at a full-time, in-state undergraduate tuition and general fees (up to 16 hours per semester), room and board for up to eight semesters of undergraduate enrollment. The scholarship is renewable, subject to scholarship policies and requirements and continued progress in an education major. The projected value of this scholarship exceeds $82,000.
Selection criteria for the Herb Scholars Program includes ACT/SAT test scores, high school GPA, high school transcript, resume, completed scholarship application, essay, letters of recommendation, and a completed application for admission to The University of Toledo in the Judith Herb College of Education. Please see the attached application for further details. Selected finalists are invited to the UT campus for a personal interview.
Minimum requirements to apply include a high school cumulative GPA of 3.4 (based on six semesters of high school performance) and a 21 ACT composite or 980 SAT combined reading and math score (from a single test date). In addition to a review of the high school transcript and test scores, transfer students (15 credits or more) must have a cumulative college GPA of 3.0. Eligible candidates must pursue a degree in the field of education. Preference will be given to candidates who express interest in teaching mathematics, science, special education or in urban environments. Scholarships, however, are not restricted to these areas.
All scholarship materials must be received no later than December 15 and sent in a separate envelope from completed applications for admission. Please note interviews for finalists will be conducted at UT in January. Please mail to: The University of Toledo, Judith Herb College of Education, Attn: Kathy Schultz - Mail Stop 914, 2801 W.
