James Rossler Jr. elected to serve as chair of SERS Board of Trustees

The School Employees Retirement System of Ohio Board of Trustees elected appointed member James Rossler Jr. as Chair of the board. This is Mr. Rossler’s third time serving as the chair of the board. The Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives and the President of the Ohio Senate reappointed Mr. Rossler in 2016 to the SERS Board.

This is Mr. Rossler’s fourth term on the SERS Board, his term expires in 2020. He is also the regional past president of the Ohio Association of School Business Officials. Mr. Rossler, who as Treasurer for Rossford Schools had led the district to five consecutive Auditor of the State Awards for clean audits, does not receive any compensation for his service on the board.

Ohio School Employees Retirement System (SERS) is a $14 billion retirement system serving nearly 200,000 members comprised of all non-teaching school employees. Of the 79,157 individuals receiving pension benefits from SERS, 91 percent live in Ohio. In fiscal year 2017 alone, pension benefit payments exceeded $1 billion were distributed among Ohio’s 88 counties, positively impacting the Ohio economy.
