Groundbreaking Ceremony held for Downtown Campus and Elementary School

Rossford Schools official groundbreaking ceremonies at Glenwood Elementary and Rossford High School were held on Monday, May 21 to celebrate the beginning of our construction process.

The ceremony began with our elementary students leading the Pledge of Allegiance, and then our Eagle Point choir sang the National Anthem. Superintendent Dan Creps welcomed guests and thanked the community for its support to make the project possible. Rossford High School alumni and Perrysburg Township Trustee Joe Schaller spoke about his excitement for the project. Rossford High School graduate and Rossford Mayor Neil MacKinnon then spoke.

"This is a great day for the City of Rossford, and it's a great day for the Rossford School District, and this is a great day for Perrysburg Township," Mayor MacKinnon said.

After a caravan ride to Rossford High School the Rossford High School Varsity Choir sang the Alma Mater to begin the downtown campus ceremony. Mr. Creps once again talked about the excitement in the schools for the new facilities.

"Facilities change, faces change, our students graduate and move on," Superintendent Creps said. "But one thing as superintendent I can speak about is the consistent support from our school district community to make sure that our students have the tools and the facilities they need to go on and be future leaders in this community and around the globe."

Board President Dawn Burks mentioned how this was a goal since she began on the board in 2010. She thanked the community for the support. State Senator Randy Gardner then spoke about the monumental day for Rossford Schools.

"This is a celebration of a community coming together," Mr. Gardner said. "The people of Rossford care very much about its history, about its heritage. I think the amazing thing about this project is the school board and school administration came together and listened to the people to preserve some of Rossford's special history, but also able to move the district into the future with an even better opportunity for the school district."
