All About TK

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is a program for students who are eligible to attend kindergarten (5 years old by September 30). Rossford's Transitional Kindergarten program is housed at Eagle Point Elementary. Students are recommended for TK through the district's spring screening process.  The recommendation is based on a child's individual level of social and emotional readiness for the rigors of a full-day kindergarten curriculum.  The decision to place a child in kindergarten or TK is always left up to the parent, although the screening team will make a recommendation.

In TK, we follow Ohio's Early Standards.  We also try to incorporate some pieces of the kindergarten curriculum.  Students in TK learn everything they need to know to prepare them to be the superstars of their kindergarten classes the following year.  TK also gives children the "gift of time" to mature and become ready for increased demands of full-day kindergarten.
