Ms. Fang Visits the Rossford School District
by Lisa Spotts
Dr. Susan Lang, Superintendent of the Rossford School District, has been selected to participate in the China Exchange Initiative Program. Nine other administrators throughout Ohio and she were selected to commit to a shadowing program, which involves Chinese administrators visiting Ohio schools and staying in the local communities. In turn, Dr. Lang and the other administrators will visit China and learn about their educational system.
Our Chinese visitor, Ms. Fang, arrived in the Rossford School District on November 13. During the week of November 16, she shadowed Dr. Lang, visited classes, attended meetings, participated in school and community activities and resided with Dr. Lang. We were also very fortunate to work with Mrs. Valerie Virag, Regional Director of the American Cultural Exchange Service, and the group of foreign exchange students she represents. The students of the Rossford School District were exposed to numerous cultural events during the week. Click on the photo of Ms. Fang (above) to view additional pictures.
In turn, Dr. Lang will be visiting China in April. This is an opportunity for all of us to learn about the schools, education reform, modern development, and international affairs in China.
The essential purpose of the program is to learn more about the culture of China and its rapid, modern development, in order to prepare our students for work in the global economy.
