Facilities Update at August 21 Board of Education Meeting

The Collaborative-TMP architects delivered an update on the construction process and design planning during Monday’s Rossford Schools Board of Education meeting. The presentation detailed current construction and renderings/maps for future work.

“I’m pleased to announce the schematic design is finished,” Superintendent Dan Creps said. “But we’re still early in the process.”

Dave Serra of The Collaborative said design refinement will continue for the high school/junior high school and elementary school projects.

Rossford Elementary renderingThe bus garage being built on the north part of Rossford Schools Glenwood Elementary campus is just beginning to break ground. The architects are expecting a February completion for that project which is moving right along.

Rossford Elementary School is still being designed, but new renderings and maps were displayed for the community. The Collaborative-TMP is expecting to send the project out to bid at the beginning of next year. Construction is anticipated to begin in the late winter or spring of 2018 with an estimated completion date of August of 2019.

“A lot of windows to create a lot of natural light, we’re trying to incorporate that,” Serra said of the elementary school design. “We’re talking about using all brick, a tanner color.”

The high school/junior high is expected to have construction begin in spring of 2018 with construction documents being finalized this winter. The high school will also house the district’s central administration at the entrance along with the high school and junior high administration offices.Bulldog Concourse

From April to August 2020 the bus loop and final site work will be completed.

The football stadium will have new turf, bathrooms, concessions, press box, entrance, and bleachers. It will remain in the same location with construction taking place directly following the 2018 fall season. Parking at Rossford High School will be unavailable for the 2018 football season, there will be alternate and shuttled parking announced at a later date. The stadium will be completed by August of 2019.

Security guards were mentioned for entrances and exits, as well as RHS-only dedicated student and staff areas on the Owens campus. The high school will only be on the Owens campus from the fall of 2018 until the new high school/junior high is completed in December of 2019.
