Extended Spring Break

Dear Rossford Schools Students, Staff, and Families,

Rossford Schools is adhering to Governor Mike DeWine’s guidance to give our students an extended spring break this year. We understand the seriousness of our role in limiting this virus and will close our doors to students beginning Monday, March 16 with intentions for students to return for classes on Tuesday, April 14. The health and safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority.

With some students being held out of school Friday (March 13), we wanted to open our doors Monday (March 16) for students at Rossford Junior-Senior High School and parents at Rossford Elementary School to come pick up supplies. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Rossford Junior-Senior High School will be open and students can pick up any books or supplies they need during this break to continue the educational process. Packets that were sent home with students at Rossford Elementary School will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the main entrance to pick up.

Given the rapidly changing circumstances of this situation our immediate focus is to follow the governor’s directive with respect to student, family, and community safety. Monday will be used for staff to plan for the possibility of instruction to occur during this mandated break.

We are working closely with outside agencies such as the Ohio Department of Education, Ohio High School Athletic Association, and state and local health departments as they learn more about this virus and its impact. Additional guidance from these agencies will be included in making future decisions.

Also suspended or postponed events include: Dedication Ceremony and tour for Rossford Junior-Senior High School on March 14, Spring Musical, Spring Sports, Winter Sports Banquet.

A change of this magnitude may be particularly upsetting for children. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has compiled a resource page that you may find helpful as you talk about this crisis with your children: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/talking-with-children.html.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work with our local and state health officials on this ever-changing situation. We will continue to communicate as more information becomes available.
