Changes to Rossford Schools Administration

The Rossford Schools Board of Education approved several contracts during board meetings last month. Curriculum Director Jason Smith is retiring this month, and the board approved Megan Spangler (current Glenwood Principal) as the new Curriculum Director.

Eagle Point Principal Jeff Taylor will be taking over as principal of both Glenwood Elementary and Eagle Point Elementary next year. For the 2019-2020 school year he will be principal of the new Rossford Elementary School, which will house all the preschool-5th grade students in the district.

Mark Swavel was approved as the assistant principal for Glenwood Elementary. He has been a teacher for 12 years for Anthony Wayne and Springfield Schools. He also has experience in education administration through internships. This year he will handle the day-to-day operations at Glenwood Elementary with Mr. Taylor’s support.

“He is an excellent teacher that has outstanding communication skills and I look forward to working with him as we make the transition into our new school,” Mr. Taylor said. “He wants to establish a positive atmosphere with the students and staff. He also is excited to become a part of the Rossford community.”

Mrs. Spangler has been principal of Glenwood Elementary since 2013. She taught for Rossford Schools for nine years prior. She will become the Curriculum Director in August.

“We are grateful to have had Mr. Smith’s expertise on staff and he will be missed,” Superintendent Dan Creps said. “We are also excited to have Mrs. Spangler as Curriculum Director, the leadership of Mr. Taylor and add Mr. Swavel to our district.”
