March 16-19, 2017

The Rossford High School Drama Department proudly presents the Northwest Ohio Premier of ROCK OF AGES--High School Edition! It’s the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra, and Heavy Metal flow freely at one of the Sunset Strip's last legendary venues, a place where legendary rocker Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and groupies line up for their chance at an autograph. Rossford Chess Club Wraps Up Season in Second Place

The Rossford Chess Team finished the 2016-2017 season in second place.  The team played six playoff matches in the Greater Toledo Area High School Chess League.  They earned four match points, 13.5 board points, and 25.5 tie break points.  At the last match on February 13 against Jones Leadership Academy, Evan Taylor (junior) had a draw, Brady McManus (seventh grade) lost his match, and Christian Tanicala (senior), Zach Chiarelott (seventh grade), and Kyle Kelley (eighth grade) won their boards.  St. Francis took first place, Jones came in third, and St. John’s placed fourth in the overall . . .

Free-of-Charge Substitute Teacher In-service

Do you have a non-educational Bachelor's degree and have an interest in becoming a substitute teacher?  The Rossford School District is hosting a free in-service for those individuals interested in learning more about substitute teaching in the Rossford School District. Individuals without teaching experience, substitute teachers employed by area school districts, and current Rossford School District substitute teachers who have not attended a previous session are invited to attend. The in-service will take place on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Professional Development . . .

For children in China, spending their winter break having fun is traditional; spending it going to class every day in a school across an ocean where a language they have only studied for a couple short years is even more important. If they accept this opportunity to improve their English, they anticipate a brighter future. They have a higher chance to advance quicker in an industrial career, to compete for jobs, or to be accepted into a better college. Ohio Students Selected for United States Senate Youth Program

Students Headed to Washington, D.C. and to Receive $10,000 Scholarship

Senators Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman today announced the names of the two students who have been selected as delegates to the 55th annual United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) that will be held March 4 — 11, 2017 in Washington, D.C. Mr. Benjamin (Ben) Lawrence Duwve of Perrysburg and Mr. Nayan Girish Rao of Solon were chosen from across the state to be part of the group of 104 student delegates who will attend the program’s 55th annual Washington Week. The USSYP was created by Senate Resolution 324 in 1962 and has been sponsored by the Senate and fully funded by The Hearst Foundations since . . .

Family STEM Night at Eagle Point

Eagle Point staff had an excellent turnout at their first family STEM Night. The purpose of the evening was to encourage students to explore ideas, ask questions, experiment with technology, design, and have fun in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Maria Pratt, Gifted Intervention Specialist, along with third, fourth, and fifth grade GEARS students, hosted the 10 stations in the Eagle Point Elementary School cafeteria and gymnasium.
