Meet the Principals

Mr. Taylor, Principal

Jeff Taylor and his family in Chicago on vacation.
I am so excited for another great year in Rossford Schools.   This year will begin my 11th year as a Principal in Rossford.  Before coming to Rossford, I had six years of administrative experience from Toledo Public Schools. I was the Principal of East Broadway Middle School for one year and Ottawa River Elementary School for five years. I was also the Assistant Principal at Spring Elementary for one year. Prior to becoming an administrator I taught sixth grade at Pickett Elementary School for eight years.

I grew up in Oregon, Ohio and attended Clay High School. I attended the University of Toledo and graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1993. I completed my Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision in 2003. Shortly after that I completed the course work to gain my Superintendent’s license from the University of Findlay.
I have a very supportive and involved family. My wife Michelle, and children Jackson (21), Kennedy (17), and Madison (14) are brought to many of the schools events and they enjoy meeting our students. They all love to attend the school dances, attending the RHS football/basketball games, and watching movies while eating popcorn. I coach most of their baseball, softball, basketball and soccer teams as my second job after school. Aside from my family my other love is fishing.  I look forward to my annual fishing trips to Canada and enjoy spending time outdoors.  If you have any good fish stories, I’d love to hear them.

Lastly, I want to tell all of my fellow Maize and Blue fans to get excited because this year is a new beginning; the year the Wolverines beat the Bucks!

Mr. Swavel, Assistant Principal

Mark Swavel and family at Mud Hens game.It is a privilege to serve as Assistant Principal of Rossford Elementary School. I have always lived in Northwest Ohio and attended Upper Sandusky High School. I went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University where I majored in Middle Childhood Education and specialized in Science and Social Studies. I later earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from BGSU.

I began my career in education in 2006. I taught fifth grade at Springfield’s Holloway Elementary for eight years and spent four years teaching sixth grade at Anthony Wayne’s Fallen Timbers Middle School.

In addition to my role as an educator, I am first and foremost a father and husband. My wife, Rachel, is a school counselor. We have a daughter Avery and son Ethan who are both very active.

I look forward to partnering with you during your child’s educational journey.
