Math Curriculum, Grades K-5
  • A committee of educators which included teachers from each grade level, intervention specialists (both gifted and special education), school psychologist, and administrators, met throughout the 2020-2021 school year to review available math curriculums.
  • After reviewing samples, participating in publisher presentations, and ongoing discussions, the committee narrowed it down to two series.
  • Into Math (https://www.hmhco.com/programs/into-math) is the recommendation of the team.  Into Math combines digital and print resources, has an interface that is user-friendly, provides personalized digital practice for students and is best-aligned with Ohio’s standards.
Social Studies Curriculum, Grades 6-12
  • The social studies textbooks and resources at Rossford Junior-Senior High School are overdue for updating.  Many of the texts currently in use are 12-17 years old.
  • In 2014, Rossford signed on for NWOi3, which was a collaborative digital curriculum project.  NWOi3 provided grant funding for educators in participating districts to collaborate, curate resources, and create/edit/share content.  Since 2014, our social studies teachers have used NWOi3 resources, along with previously-purchased texts.  Over the past seven years, classroom landscapes have changed and NWOi3 partner districts unanimously decided to end the project.  (More details regarding the decision to end NWOi3 may be found here: NWOi3 Project Update.)
  • The social studies teachers who serve students in grades 6-12 met throughout the spring.  They reviewed samples, participated in publisher presentations, and had thoughtful discussions regarding resources.
  • The entire 6-12 Social Studies Department agreed that McGraw Hill’s content best met the needs of our students.  Teachers stated that McGraw Hill’s resources closely aligned to Ohio’s standards when compared to those of other publishers.  McGraw Hill couples traditional text books with online resources.  Digital components allow the reading/Lexile levels of texts to be adjusted to accommodate diverse learners.  An overview of the materials may be found here: https://www.mheducation.com/prek-12/subject/social-studies.html
